13. Westnewton Bridge to Norham

Another long walk today, but less ascent than yesterday – and by the end of it you’ll be on the banks of the River Tweed, ready one for final push to the North Sea, what’s keeping you? Let’s go.

The route continues along a track between Westnewton and Westnewton Bridge crossing a disused railway to Lanton Mill. Then to Crookhouse, around Coldside Hill, through West Flodden, then Flodden to Flodden Hill, to Sybil’s Well. Continuing past Binkbonny and Pace Hill to Crookham and Heatherslaw then crossing the River Till to Etal. The route follows the river past Barleymill Bank, through Tindalhouse Wood and Tiptoe Wood to Twizel Mill and Twizel Boathouse, past North Banks and West Newbiggin to leave the river at Bow Well Farm to Norham – if you are staying there for the night, otherwise the route continues along the river to Norham Castle .

No alternative routes, but many interesting things to look at on the way.
